Located near the shores of Lake Jocassee in Salem, SC, Jocassee Outdoor Center has been serving boaters and outdoor enthusiasts since 1979, when the original Hoyett’s Grocery & Tackle opened to provide bait, groceries, and lake essentials. As Lake Jocassee grew into one of South Carolina’s most popular mountain lake destinations, the business expanded in 2005 into what is now Jocassee Outdoor Center—an all-in-one outdoor recreation and marine service facility.

Today, Jocassee Outdoor Center is the area’s only full-service outfitter offering everything visitors need for a day on the water or a weekend in the mountains. Guests can enjoy convenient **Lake Jocassee access while taking advantage of our popular Jocassee Outdoor Center Boat Rentals available on our boat rentals page. Our fleet includes spacious pontoon, tritoon, and ski boats designed for tubing, fishing, sightseeing, and exploring the crystal-clear waters and waterfalls that make Lake Jocassee famous.

In addition to rentals, we provide concierge boat storage, full boat maintenance and repair services, guided fishing trips, waterfall tours, and lake shuttle services. Our convenient location near the lake landing makes it easy for visitors staying at our RV sites or nearby campgrounds to access the water quickly and enjoy a full day of adventure.

Inside the historic Hoyett’s General Store—still proudly maintained as part of the property—you’ll find a well-stocked retail space featuring fishing gear, camping supplies, watersports equipment, snacks, groceries, beer and wine, and unique souvenirs. Guests can also shop locally inspired items such as t-shirts, hats, gifts, books, and specialty foods including jams, jellies, salsas, and relishes. For boaters, we are also the only retailer in the area offering ethanol-free gasoline to help keep your watercraft running at peak performance.
